Course Text

There is no official course text book but we recommend the book “You Look Like A Thing And I Love You” by Janelle Shane. This book was chosen because it is the only non-technical writing we have found that doesn’t obfuscate or misconstrue the technology (unlike almost every popular science article). Two chapters that support this course most closely are here for download as a PDF:

You can get started on Chapter 1 right away and finish Chapter 3 by the Algorithms III module which is an approximate midway point. The “Questions Worth Considering” sections incorporate these readings.

There will also be links to articles and documents in the Research Springboard sections of each module that provide more information about the topics covered in the videos.
